Violent crimes in Manchester since November 2017 to October 2018 have increased considerably; with violent crimes topping all other crimes in Manchester. Since 2011, the rate of crime has increased by 24%.
According to ‘www.verisure.co.uk’ website, it shows ten council areas with the highest crime rate between January 2015 and December 2016. Manchester coming second in the UK, after London who are still first in 2018.

And this continues, as Manchester is still second in the UK for crime; with violent crimes nearly over taking London’s.
In a recent survey, on ‘UKCrimeStats.com’, Manchester appears in the top ten for all the different types of crimes in the UK. With Manchester coming in the top five for most of them, including: Violent crimes and Anti-social behaviour crimes.
Phil spode – a scaffolder from Salford – works with ex-criminals every day. Violence and crime have always been a part of his life.
Names have been changed for anonymity and for their own safety.
“Crime has never been a distant thing in my life just because of where I live and who I know, and so I’m not stunned or startled by it, it’s just a normal thing for us.”
“One of the guys I work with did 10 years in prison for breaking into a guy’s bedroom while he was asleep and trying to kill him with a 10-inch kitchen knife before coming too and running off. It turned out recently he also used to work for the Noonan brothers,”

In 2017, Manchester arena was targeted by ISIS and was one of the biggest attacks in the UK over the last couple of years. 22 people died including woman and children, in support of Ariana Grandes world tour.
Since the attack, more violent attacks have happened across Manchester and resulted in the stats rising again this year.
Along with violent crimes, drugs have been on the rise and especially in the work place.
In the last decade in Manchester, drug deaths have almost doubled in figures. In 2014 – 2016 alone, 114 deaths were recorded by alcohol, heroin and cocaine abuse.
Phil spode reports that: “Some may only have a spliff to relax or a ‘key’ of coke when they go out, others will take enough to stay awake for a few days in a row to over a week, normally in combination with drinking and commonly resulting in people going missing and going on ‘benders”.
Phil Spode’s colleagues use drugs every day in the work place and even scaffold whilst being high on cocaine.
The stats have risen to an all time high and keep rising In Manchester for crime. Will it keep rising? Or will Manchester’s crime rate go back to normal, only the next few years will tell.
